Get Paid to Wander: Your Guide to Travel Jobs

In a world of high-speed living and remote jobs, with most happenings being on the World Wide Web, it’s not impossible to think one can earn money anywhere.

That’s precisely what I am going to talk about today! I am a travel freak who loves to travel and explore different cultures and nations. But all that costs money, and if you come from an underdeveloped country like me, money is the issue most of the time. And even if not, even if you are on vacation, and you have seen all there is to be seen, you have visited all the museums, you can’t eat for the next five days, you have been frying on the beach for the past couple of days so the only thing you can do is lay in bed under the AC.

Says who? I’ll show you a way to combine exciting and valuable and how you can earn money on your travels so you can always travel for free. Or at least with a great discount! These are the best travel jobs!

1. Blogging

Blogging while traveling is a great way to earn some money. Your office is wherever your laptop is, so you are never tied down to one place. This can help you travel the world with just a laptop and a bit of data, which you can always find in some local cafes or restaurants. Plus, it’s even better if you do travel writing, so you can always write about tips and tricks and the best things to do in a place where you are currently at.

2. Vlogging

Similar to blogging, but more independent and connected to the modern day and age where everything is visual. You can write blogs for your own website, but you can also work as a freelancer for other people’s websites, while when it comes to Vloging, people usually vlog for their own channel. It takes more time to succeed, but it is also much more rewarding than blogging if you succeed. All you need is a smart phone with a nice camera, and if you want to be fancy, a laptop with some video editing software like Adobe PremierePro or DaVinci Resolve.

3. Video commercials

This one is both fun and rewarding. If you have a smartphone with a decent camera and you invest in a nice DJI drone, you can earn some nice money on your travels. Combine this with an investment in a decent laptop and a video editing course, and you have a recipe for success. When I was on vacation in Corfu, I spotted an opportunity with their beautiful Tavernas, as most of them are beachfront, so I packed my drone and visited a few of them on foot and offered them my services. I managed to score two jobs for filming a video ad and one logo redesign job, which made me a nice profit for less of a day of work.

4. Singing and playing an instrument

This is another great way to earn some surprisingly good money. If you are a good singer and you can play an instrument, you can always play in the city center of any place you go. Understandably this is one of those travel jobs that not everyone can do since it requires you to know how to play an instrument or have a talent to sing. Another thing you can do is just offer your services to local restaurants and lounge bars so they can pay you to play for their place.

5. Haircuts for tips

If you know how to cut hair, another great way to earn money is to offer free haircuts to strangers and profit if they decide to give you a tip. You only need hair clippers for this one, so you can be quite flexible and earn well in countries where haircuts are expensive. Pro tip: You can combine this with vlogging and use this as your content on your vlog so you can increase exposure.

6. Exposure

Since I mentioned exposure, this tip is for those of you who already have a decently developed online business. If you have a travel blog, you can always ask restaurant owners, beach bar owners, and others who provide services in tourism to promote them on your website. This way, they will get exposure through your audience, and you will receive a nice compensation in return for little to no effort. This is the easiest among all travel jobs!

7. Bartending

A good barista is always a much-needed part of the crew. If you know how to mix drinks and make a killer espresso, no matter where you find yourself, you can always offer your services to nightclubs and earn a decent wage plus tips.

8. Henna Tattoo

Unlike the classic tattoo industry, where there are laws and regulations tied to it due to the necessity of sterile needles and equipment, Henna tattoos can be done anywhere and do not fall under any kind of laws and regulations. This is because the Henna tattoos are done with a toothpick and Henna, and there is no skin penetration, so there is no risk of infection, unlike the classic tattoo where the needle pierces your skin.

9. Working on a cruise ship

This is more of a lifestyle and a permanent job, but it still fits in the category. There are numerous jobs that you can do on a cruise ship, and each of those offers some nice wages. Understandably, a captain makes a lot more than a maid, but still, the workers are very well paid. You can use the time between shifts to discover beautiful cities wherever you make a stop in the world. This choice isn’t for everyone because you are far away from your home and family for the better part of the year. Mind you this is one of the hardest travel jobs and is not for everyone since staying that long on the sea can take a tool on a person.
