Alfa Romeo: Ranking The Best Looking Cars by Italian Automaker

Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Alfa Romeo is one of the oldest car brands in automotive history. It breathes tradition, performance, and beauty. Alfa Romeo was the first winner of the F1 championship in 1950, with Giuseppe Farina taking the victory.

Throughout its history Alfa was always somewhat controversial car brand with its haters saying that they produce low quality cars that require high maintenance. Alfa enthusiasts on the other hand glorify the brand saying that Alfa creates perfect driving machines combining beauty with excellent performance.

Today we will not talk about Alfa’s reliability, nor performance but rather the beautiful cars that they have produced over the years of their existence.

Let’s begin with our list of The Most Beautiful Alfa Romeo Cars ever produced.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

Even though Alfa Romeo has many beautiful cars, there can only be one as the most beautiful car from Alfa Romeo. I am confident to say that Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

The 33 Stradale debuted in 1967 as a street-version of Alfa’s Tipo 33 race car. It featured big headlights and aerodynamic bodywork that weeps for attention and has the viewer’s eye glued to it. Under the hood there is a small but powerful 2.0 V8 petrol engine paired with 6 speed manual gearbox.

Another Alfa, another beauty. This stunning looking car debuted almost 100 years ago, in 1931. What made it unique for the time was 3 front headlights. It rocked an aluminum body, which wasn’t really aerodynamic as people didn’t bother with that at those times. The power for 8C came from 2.3 liter inline 8 petrol engine.

Just a few years after Alfa launched 8C came the eye-catching 6C 2500 Super Sport. Debuted in 1939, it packed a 105 hp 2.4 Inline 6 petrol engine. The front was designed with double headlights, while the back is something that we can only see in gangster movies. With two dots for rear headlights and the curved trunk that ends in double bumpers on the sides with an empty space in the middle, it is something that will catch the viewer’s attention in no time.

Alfa Romeo 159 / Brera

Still considered one of the most beautiful cars ever made, the Alfa Romeo 159 in sedan version or Alfa Romeo Brera as a couple still makes the heads turn today, almost 20 years after it was launched. The 159/Brera was unique with its triple lamp headlights, which were later copied by huge brands like Bugatti on their Chiron. It had a futuristic dashboard with everything centered towards the driver. The 159/ Brera had one of the best diesel engines ever produced, 1.9 JTDm, with the best one having 150hp, while the strongest petrol option was a 3.2 V6, which was deemed too heavy, so Alfa enthusiasts preferred the 1.8 Turbo Petrol version.

Alfa Romeo Montreal

This rear-wheel-drive beauty is one of Alfa’s less famous models, mostly known by real Alfa enthusiasts. It launched in 1970 and was named Montreal. With its long and sleek body, two doors, and side grills, it is one of the best cars that ever left the drawing table of Studio Bertone. It came with a not so powerful V8 petrol engine that had 200 hp.

Alfa Romeo GTV6

The full name of this model is Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6, but very few people actually call it that name. Instead, it is widely known as Alfa Romeo GTV6. It is one of the coolest-looking Alfa Romeo cars. When it came out, it didn’t feel like a usual wagon, but it was something futuristic. The double front headlights are something that makes it quite unique, and for that time, it wasn’t something that was seen too often. Golf MK2 GTI had headlights similar to those of the GTV6. The 2.6 liter V8 petrol engine delivering 200hp is still considered one of the best looking and the best quality petrol engines ever made.

Originally made as a sports car but later tuned by Autodelta and Bertone to a race-winning menace, the Giulia GTA is also an eye candy. The 160 inch long, 1700lbs Alfa, carried a 1.3 liter 96 hp engine under the hood. Its timeless design still resonates to this day as it is on high demand for classic car enthusiasts.

Alfa Romeo Spider (First Generation)

Alfa Romeo Spider launched in 1966. It was a classic sports car convertible made for Monte Carlo and the rest of Riviera. With its rounded headlights, three-point steering wheel, with Alfa Romeo Logo inside, it was one of the most desired cars on the market at that time. Dustin Hoffman drove one in the movie “The Graduate”. Alfa’s first generation spider is on high demand on the classic car market with prices starting at 25 thousand dollars.

Don’t be surprised if the name doesn’t ring a bell. The Alfa Romeo’s 159 Alfetta wasn’t a production model but rather an Alfa Romeo F1 car that won many races for Alfa. Huan Manuel Fangio drove one for the Italian team. Even though it’s not a production model, we had to mention it on our list due to its long aerodynamic body, which still looks awesome to this day.

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was made in 2007, and we can confidently say that it is a blend of Alfa, Ferrari, and Maserati. The seats were taken from a Ferrari, and the engine was a modified Maserati engine. Even though it has a 4.7 V8 petrol engine delivering 450hp, 8C Competizione’s top speed was limited to 182mph or 292km/h, just because it’s sacrilegious to have anything faster than Ferrari in Italy. Only 500 units were made. Oh, right, I forgot to mention the looks. Well, see for yourself, ’cause I am lost for words.

Alfa Romeo 156 GTA

This list wouldn’t be complete without one of Alfa’s best-looking and best-performing cars. Based on a family sedan 156, the 156 GTA was a menace and a stunning-looking one. The 156 GTA rocked a 3.2 V6 Busso Engine, deemed one of the best-looking engines ever produced, which had an output of 250hp. Combine that with a six-speed manual gearbox, or Alfa’s six-speed automatic Selespeed gearbox, and a limited-slip differential, and you have lots of fun. The GTA version had a bigger and more aerodynamic body kit as well as two twin-tipped chromed exhaust pipes.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Alfa Romeo GTA made history, so Alfa needed a beast to continue carrying the tradition of the name. Well, they made it. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is basically a toned down Ferrari. The Italian Automaker borrowed an engine from Ferrari 458 Italia and removed two cylinders, just so the Giulia doesn’t go as fast as a Ferrari. The car has a stunning looks to it and we can safely say that it made its predecessor proud, both look and performance-wise.

Even though it’s basically a same car as Giulia Quadrifoglio, Stelvio is an SUV. Yes, Alfa Romeo SUV, the first one ever made. What makes it different to Giulia is the gearbox, since the Giulia had the manual option as well as the automatic, Alfa decided that Stelvio should only have an automatic gearbox. It is most likely the best looking SUV on the market today.

Alfa Romeo Tonale

Alfa Romeo Tonale is Alfa’s first hybrid car. While we don’t like the way that Stellantis Group, who owns Alfa Romeo, is going with the brand, we have to give credit to design team. Alfa Romeo Tonale is Brera’s big brother, and the influence is more then obvious when Tonale is looked from the front. There are a couple of engine options to chose from but our choice is 2.0 petrol engine delivering 268hp.
