Live, Work, Thrive: Countries That Offer it All
In the high-speed world that we are living in today, it is hard to find your place under the Sun. The hunger, the wars, and 9-5 jobs make the situation unbearable for your average bloke or gal who just wants to spend their days in happiness.
Many factors determine if we will be happy: our loved ones, our income, and our health, but also a good factor in all of this is the place we live in.
If we gave you a choice to live in North Korea or Italy, you wouldn’t have a problem choosing, but what happens when the lines get blurry and the choice isn’t as obvious? That’s where we come in to help. I’ve had my fair share of traveling and did thorough research to find you the best countries to live in the world. So let’s go, and who knows, this article may just convince you to pack your bags and go.
Austria
The Austrian Capital has been named the best city in the world, so it’s no wonder that the old land of The Habsburgs takes the crown as the best country to live in. It has good paychecks, and the crime rates are at the minimum. The cities are clean and filled with parks and history, making them a perfect place to live.
Norway
It’s no secret that Norway has always been among the best places to live. When you sum it up, they have it all: beautiful people, great healthcare, and an abnormally strong economy. Did you know that Norway imports trash to recycle it? Because they are so efficient, they recycle all of their own, and to keep the momentum going, they import it from the neighboring countries. The crime rates are low if we exclude the unfortunate and isolated event that happened a few years back.
Canada
Canada is one of the most culturally diverse places in the world. It has great and free health care, as well as a stable economy. It supports people of different races as well as people with different sexual orientations. It gets a bit cold, but at least their money is so shiny!
Australia
The land down under is yet another great place to live in. It is in the southern hemisphere and so far in the east that you will be among the first ones to celebrate the new year. Due to its geographical location, it has great employment opportunities in the forms of astronomy and marine biology. It is also eco-friendly. The only downside for me is the bugs. I just can’t handle the bugs.
New Zealand
The Kiwis, mate! New Zealand is at the top of this list if we are talking only about natural beauty. There are very few countries that can compete with it. It has high mountains and a beautiful coastline, but the cost of living is very high, and the job opportunities are limited.
Switzerland
The Swiss aren’t neutral when it comes to great places to live in. They are among the richest nations in the world, and they have a mesmerizing education system. Their public transport is on point, and when a country has that many banks, it sure has some benefits to its residents. Did I mention that the salaries are among the highest in the world?
Singapore
When it comes to safety, there is no place like Singapore. This is due to rigorous punishments for crimes and 24-hour video surveillance that is all over the country. You can leave your wallet in the middle of the street and come back tomorrow, and it will be in the same place you dropped it. The salaries are enormous as well. But there is a drawback: the heat and humidity are at an insane level.
Greece
If you are into a laid-back lifestyle and natural beauty, Greece is a perfect choice for you. Living is affordable all over the country, and they have a good healthcare system on the mainland. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for the islands, but it is what it is. If you are into a metropolis, then Athens is a choice for you, but I would personally always choose some calmer place to live.
Costa Rica
Have you ever seen tropical posters with palm trees and coconuts? The chances are it was probably taken in Costa Rica. The Costa Ricans have a very laid-back lifestyle, and they have pretty good salaries. The taxes are extremely low, while the climate and nature are extremely high. It is located in Central America, meaning you will never be cold, but you may get wet in the hurricane season.
Montenegro
I can’t leave out my home country from this list. I always say Montenegro is a beautiful land but a bad country for its residents. The salaries are bad, the politicians are corrupt, and there is a lot of organized crime. But if you are able to work remotely and earn even minimum US wage, you will live above average in Montenegro. You can be from the highest mountain to a seashore in less than an hour’s drive.
Croatia
I would say the similar stuff as Montenegro but on a bigger scale as the country is vastly larger than Montenegro. Croatians have a laid-back lifestyle, and they love the sea. Croatia has a lot of islands, and you can buy yourself a cabin on your own private island and enjoy your life.
Italy
The Italy is like 2 in 1. If you are into high fashion, high wages, and a fast lifestyle, then the north of Italy is for you, but if you are like me and enjoy a relaxing day working on and off with your espresso and cigarette, then the Italian south is for you. Like all other countries, there is a big deal of political corruption and organized crime, but you never see an Italian complaining on TV about how bad they have it. Am I right?
